The short version: What’s Kraken has no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies, and we don’t ask for personal information to use the site.
What we collect
- Browsing the site: nothing that identifies you. We don’t use accounts, advertising or tracking cookies.
- Visit statistics: we don’t currently run any analytics. If we add some, it will be a self-hosted, cookie-free tool that honours Do Not Track, and we’ll update this page.
- Feedback: if you send us feedback we store your message, the topic you chose and when it was sent. Giving an email address is optional; if you do, we use it only to reply to you.
- Beta list: if you join the beta list we store your email address, the exact wording you agreed to, which form you used and when. We use it only to email you about the What’s Kraken beta, we don’t share or sell it, and we’ll delete the list when the beta ends. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address at any time.
- Reports: when you use Report a problem we store the reason you pick and any note you type, plus when it was sent. We don’t store your name, email, IP address or anything else that identifies you. Please don’t put personal details in the note.
- We don’t store your IP address with any of these, and nothing on the site sets cookies.
Technical logs and our hosting provider
Like any website, our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare, which helps deliver the site and protect it from abuse) see your IP address and basic request details when you load a page. We use that only to keep the site running and secure — for example to spot someone hammering it — and we don’t use it to identify or profile visitors.
Links to other sites
Listings link to venues’ own pages, and “Get directions” opens Google Maps. Once you leave What’s Kraken, those sites’ own privacy policies apply.
Who the site is for
What’s Kraken is made for adults and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
